When was the District Established?

In the late 80s, the Block House Municipal Utility District (MUD)  was formed as a governmental entity as a political subdivision of the State of Texas operating under Chapters 49 and 54 of the Texas Water Code which created the Block House Creek community

What is a Municipal Utility District (MUD)?

A Municipal Utility District (MUDs) is one of several types of special districts that function as independent, limited governments authorized to issue bonds and levy taxes.  As a political subdivision of the State of Texas authorized by the Texas Water Code to provide services within its boundaries, BHMUD provides water, garbage and recycling pickup, deed restriction enforcement, maintenance and operations of pools and park facilities. A tax assessment funds these services to maintain high quality services. MUDs have greater flexibility than a city because residents have a more narrowly defined sense of neighborhood and more interest in their community. MUD board members are residents and are elected to four-year terms.

How many houses are in the District?

The Block House subdivision consists of 2,188 properties that was designed in a master-planned community, Block House Creek was developed initially by Block Brothers and then Parklane Development.

To maintain a truly extraordinary quality of life for Block House Creek residents, the District provides a sense of community by providing exceptional utility services and parks and recreational opportunities.

The best way to get a feel for the community of families is to drive through the neighborhood and get a first-hand appreciation for the beautiful setting, the fantastic amenities and the families enjoying life in this wonderful community.

Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) and Defined District Area

The District is located in the extra-territorial jurisdictions (ETJ) of Cedar Park. An ETJ is a designated buffer area located just outside the city limits which defines future service boundaries.

The district map depicts the District's land and borders.  The map also signifies what properties are in the Owner's Association.
