Who will design the course?

A local world renowned professional will design the course within the real estate and guidelines provided by MUD board directors.
Am I allowed to bring food to the pools?

Yes, however, the food and beverages must be kept in designated areas at least 6 ft from the pool edge. Food and drinks are not allowed in the pool or at the pool edge.
Are we allowed to wear street clothes in the pool?

All swimmers must wear proper swim attire. No cutoff shorts or regular clothes are allowed.

Over the last year, the MUD Board of Directors have worked to find a plausible solution to moving the Disc Golf Amenity from Comamche Park/Tumlinson Park to another location within the community.

Why was the original course moved?

The original course was installed at a time when BHC had roughly half the residents it does today. As residents and park use increased it became too congested to keep all the amenities from conflicting. Homeowners near the original course were being affected by the sport. Moving the trails, picnic tables, baseball and other amenities was not deemed feasible compared to moving the course. A professional course designer local to Austin was hired to survey the course. The recommendations from this analysis led to the removal and need for the relocation of the course. A course review report with findings was presented to the Board in June 2020.

What reaction did the board have after the report was available? Why did the decision take so long?

Upon receiving the report the board voted to close the course due to safety issues. The board searched over the last year looking at other parcels of land within the community suitable. A proposed locations map was sent to the design professional to review. They provided another report summarizing the proposed areas and determined that the current proposed location best suited the known issues and sport. It takes several months for some things to happen simply because we only meet once a month, sometimes twice.

What’s the status now?

At this time the design professional has been tasked with designing a course to fit within the proposed mapped area. The design will include provisions to work with established hike/ bike trails and other related items.

We are excited to know that this amenity is finally coming back. We invite you to be involved in playing the new course, walking through some of the beautiful parkland, getting reconnected to nature in this part of your community.

No dates have been established regarding an opening date at this time.

Update - May 19, 2021

The MUD District approved hiring a professional consultant to design the course at its April meeting.

A designated area was provided to the designer to work within as shown on map .

The consultant is in charge of designing the best possible course within those physical boundaries.

The project is in the Design stage. The design consultant will walk the proposed area and determine the best use of the property for a course. No physical disturbance of vegetation has occurred or will occur without Board approvals.

Next step- MUD representatives will review proposed course and get budgetary numbers for associated work.

What about the trails we already have in this area?
During walks with the design professional it became apparent there may be areas where the proposed course and trails coincide. The course designer will include buffers of vegetation between the two uses, where they are close trails may be slightly relocated.
What is the intent of the Disc Golf amenity ?
The intent is to provide the community of Block House an amenity suitable for all ages in a natural environment setting at a location that would lessen the impact on nearby homes and other park activities and provide residents another reason to frequent this beautiful natural environment in their own backyard.
